San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Every time we're in San Diego, we have to stop at Ben & Esther's. The turkey-bacon club is seriously so freakin' delicious. I'm drooling just thinking about it! And the vegan bacon? Easily the best I've ever had. We also love their matzo ball soup, which is pure comfort in a bowl. Ben & Esther’s has become one of our favorite spots, and I only wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.

Finally made it to Ben & Esther’s after hearing so much about it, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The menu had so many good options that it was hard to choose, but I went with the RZA and it was SO good. I also tried the Biscoff cheesecake and a cookie for dessert, and both were incredible. The employee helping me was also incredibly kind and patient while I decided what to order. She gave great recommendations and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu!

As a vegetarian and someone who loves bagels, I was really excited to try this place. I came by around 12 on a weekend and honestly kind of regretted coming that late because they were almost sold out of a lot of items. They were out of the Matzo ball soup and most of the bagels too. I did manage to grab the last jalapeΓ±o bagel for my lox sandwich, which ended up being just okay. Maybe I picked the wrong thing? though it seemed to be one of their more popular menu items. I’d still like to come back and try something else because definitely seems like the kind of spot you need to plan ahead for instead of making a spontaneous stop. They don’t have indoor seating, but there are a few outdoor tables near the parking lot, and parking itself was pretty easy. They also offer a free pickle if you leave them a google review. They also sell half a dozen of 1 day old bagels for 9$ which sounds like a good deal.

This is a great deli! We enjoyed everything we ordered. We tried the lox bagel, egg, cheddar, and bacon bagel, and the Benny's brisket sandwich. They were all very delicious. I was really impressed with the vegan bacon! Highly recommend!!!

I've been wanting to come here for three years, finally was able to between shifts for my lunch break. The ladies working there were helpful and friendly, and my food was all ready to go in about 8-11 minutes. The food is all vegan, and although I'm not vegan I wanted to give it a try since I love supporting local business!! I got a turkey sandwich, lox (made of carrots), chocolate peanut butter brownie and a drink. The combo wasn't bad, the food overall tastes pretty decent. Not really filling unfortunately for me, but I do recommend it if you're looking for plant based and you're in the area. I'll go back for sure to try something new. They serve coffee and tea here as well. I highly recommend the brownies!!! A few dining tables available outside, no dining inside as the space is very small. Plenty of parking as well.
