The food here is excellent, haven't gotten a bad dish from them before. The banh mi is their best dish I've had here. I also loved their fried rice. Good service too. Menu is very big with lots I have not tried yet though. The prices are very steep however at around $25-35 dollars per entree and the entrees are very small and the atmosphere here doesn't quite match the price, but the owner told me they have a separate large commercial kitchen where they have to hand make a lot of their ingredients so that somewhat justifies the price.

Not sure if I trust some of these negative reviews, since some of them even said they didn’t eat the food. Others you can’t even see their profiles. So, I’ll leave a legitimate review along with pictures. Initially, we were ambivalent about trying this place due to the high prices but they also have an exceptional rating on Google and Yelp. 4.9 on both Google and Yelp, that’s rare. We bit the bullet and headed there. Parking can be tough but luckily we found parking in front of the restaurant. It was free after 8 pm on a Tuesday. If you go earlier or on the weekends, I would read the parking sign more carefully. There might be free street parking on the left side behind the restaurant. Don’t quote me on that. Like I said, parking is not as easy as other places in SD. There are quite a bit of tables to sit in. It wasn’t busy when we went. Yes, they do have a very large menu with like 1,000 items. We are not vegetarian or vegan but we have tried vegan places in Denver, CO. We ordered eel Helen pho roll, crispy beef chestnut and pineapple banh mi, and duck wonton noodle soup. The owner also gave us complimentary desserts, vegan corn pudding and vegan creme. She also gave us cookies

Holy moly!!! I’d been craving some real comfort food for a while, and since I’m vegetarian, this place had been on my list forever so I finally made it happen. Parking can be a bit tricky with mostly paid spots on the street, but they do have a small free lot for customers behind the Middle Eastern market next door, which is good to know. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted right away and the whole place had such a warm, homey vibe. Their menu is huge, so be prepared to feel a little overwhelmed but definitely ask the staff for recommendations, they’re super helpful. I was in the mood for something soupy, so I went with the Tom Yum noodle soup. As someone who’s never had meat, I’ve always been curious about the taste and texture, so I tried the “chicken” option for protein. The staff mentioned it also had pieces resembling shrimp and duck, which was interesting. They also brought out an herbal drink, which was unexpectedly delicious. The Tom Yum was exactly what I needed, pure comfort food. Honestly, it felt like something homemade. I packed up leftovers and when I ate it at home later,I had to remind myself it was from a restaurant because it really tasted like a home cooke

Advertised as the best vegan Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego and they did not disappoint!! - beef noodle soup - banh mi - Helen pancakes - crème brûlée I LOVE beef noodle soup and this soup was so flavorful with 3 different types of protein. The banh mi is their claim to fame and decked out with crispy “pork”, tofu, crunchy seasonings, and veggies. We also got the Helen pancakes, which were nice and crispy and super tasty with the vinegar meatball sauce. High quality ingredients. The staff is so kind and very knowledgeable about the in house, homemade vegan food. I can’t wait to come back!!

Our meal here was mouthwateringly delicious! The pork belly spring roll had a fantastic crunch inside along with the fresh flavors within. The garlic noodles were addicting, bok choy and veggies cooked perfectly, and the chicken was crispy. The mushroom stir fry with beef had well balanced flavors. You can truly feel the love put into this meal. Even the water is divine! (We learned from staff that it's fresh citrus and fruit water that they make daily). As others have mentioned, they make everything from scratch - even the rice paper for the spring rolls - and you can tell because it tastes so fresh. I'm not a vegan but I enjoy vegan food, if I were ever to become a vegan, I'd be eating here to meet my 'meat' cravings - they do a great job! The staff was so lovely and accommodating. They offered us crème brûlée for dessert and it was delectable. A friend sent me a gift certificate to Thanh Tinh Chay for my birthday since she had heard it was amazing and it matched and exceeded expectations. It's unassuming from the outside but definitely a hidden gem! We will be back! :)
