San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

An absolute gold standard for steakhouses and the perfect date night location. I had been wanting to stop by this restaurant every time I visited San Diego due to local recommendations, but never had gotten the chance... until the other day. It not only met my expectations, but had surpassed them. First of all, you have clear view of the chefs cooking in the center of the restaurant, which showcases the process, and the cleanliness of their workstations. The ambiance is classic, clean, and dimly lit, but unfortunately didn't allow me to do full justice with the pictures of the meal. We both started off with a cobb salad, which if you are familiar with, typically has bacon sprinkled on. We had actual thick cut pieces of pork bacon (not sure if it was pancetta, belly, or jowl) and it was delicious. We also had split a bone marrow appetizer, which came with toasted, buttered bread. My only critique would be to have the bread a bit drier and thinner to elevate the bone marrow, as it was good quality but scarce as bone marrow usually is. Nevertheless, it was delicious. For the star of the show, my girlfriend ordered the wagyu skirt steak medium-well with chimichurri, and it was c

I usually ask for a medium because places will either do medium or medium rare. But being highly-rated, i tried for medium rare and got closer to blue rare in my opinion (ill let the photo dictate). What I did eat, ended up being tasty, the seasoning and taste was splendid. But i could not stomach the rest, and my stomach got upset. The service and drinks were delicious.

Cowboy Star is definitely our new favorite steakhouse. Everything was splendid- from the service to the food. My only minor complaint is the restaurant seemed a little tight inside (the tables close together). Our server wasn’t the most gregarious and a little on the serious side, but he was on top of it and didn’t miss a beat. The surrounding staff were also quick to refill drinks, pack up leftovers, everything just went really smoothly. We appreciate small touches like the table hooks to hang my purse & leftovers and one of the gentleman wait staff even brought me an extra plate of crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e bananas because one of the bananas flew off my plate during slicing, haha! The Parker house rolls were warm and fluffy. I’ve never had a wedge salad taste so scrumptious, the slab of bacon stole the show and it didn’t lack blue cheese and dressing like most places. The mac & cheese was off the hook, cooked perfectly al dente. And our ribeye couldn’t have tasted any better. In fact, this was a steak I didn’t need any horseradish or additional sauces because the meat tasted so good. It was cooked to medium rare perfection. The foraged mushrooms were delicious and the banana pudding for des

The service was impeccable, and the food was simply amazing. I highly recommend starting with the dinner bread rolls as a side dish. Don’t miss out on the macaroni and cheese; it’s a must-try. We both ordered ribeye steaks, and they were cooked to perfection. For dessert, the banana pudding was an absolute delight and one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.

My wife and I absolutely loved our experience at Cowboy Star. First, I’m a huge fan of steak. My go to is Filet Mignon. And their steak is phenomenal. It was tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the SautΓ©ed Scallops and Clams, which was delicious as well. We had the Wood-fired Mussels for an appetizer, which was surprisingly amazing. We never would have thought to pair mussels and chorizo together, but it worked to perfect. The cocktails were delicious as well. The place has great ambiance. The service was impeccable. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it! We left full and satisfied!
