San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Jose follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Our family has been a part of the San Jose community since the 1970s, and we have always made it a point to support and uplift local businesses. We chose The Drying Shed for my grandmother’s funeral reception precisely because we wanted to keep it local and trusted that a family-run establishment would treat us with the care that comes with that shared community connection. To be clear, there were many aspects of the event that we genuinely appreciated. The space is beautifully decorated, the ambiance was lovely, and the air conditioning made for a very comfortable environment. Furthermore, the food served was delicious, and the young woman who served our party was polite, courteous, and incredibly fast—she did a wonderful job, and we were truly grateful for her efforts during such a difficult day. Unfortunately, the positive atmosphere and the hard work of the serving staff were completely overshadowed by the management’s approach to our event. We were assured by Ed and his brother that we would be "taken care of," and that as a family in mourning, we shouldn't have to worry about the details. Sadly, that promise was not kept. While we understood and accepted the financial commi

By far one of the absolute best dining experiences on this side of town. From the moment the food hit the table, you could immediately tell everything was made with quality and care. One thing that really stood out to me was the salad — perfectly fresh and extremely cold, exactly how a salad should be. Nothing ruins a salad faster than it being warm, and this one was crisp, refreshing, and loaded with flavor. Even the croutons were delicious and tasted fresh instead of the typical store-bought kind you get at most places. The baked bread was another highlight. It came out warm, soft, and incredibly fresh, and paired perfectly with butter. It’s the small details like that which really separate a good restaurant from a phenomenal one. For the main course, I ordered the New York steak, and honestly, it was absolutely amazing. Cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, tender, juicy, and easily one of the better steaks I’ve had in a long time. The baked potato came loaded with all the fixings and was cooked perfectly, while the fresh vegetables completed the meal perfectly without feeling like an afterthought. What truly made the experience even better was the customer service. Tony was

If it wasn't meeting people their, I would never go inside. It looks so run down on the outside, it doesn't even look open, let alone a restaurant. The inside had dirty and broken ceiling tiles. It was hard to enjoy your self with it looking so rundown. Sad for a place that has decent food, and good service.

came here after a funeral with family. ordered a beer and went back to my table, after a few sips, i noticed the beer was expired. only by a month so i wasn’t like tripping off it. i went back to the bartender and told him it was expired, he walked away and said (something along the lines of): “no it’s not”. i said yes it is. he said: “sweetie you’re fine it’s not expired”. or something like that. without even paying any attention to me standing there, he walked away. i stood there like??? a chef from the back asked what the issue was and i told him. he said be right back and brought me a knew beer. i really don’t mind that the fact the beer was expired, i was also like letting them know they’re serving expired beer. it was the old man bartender and it really pissed me off.

Drying Shed is a true gem in San Jose for steak lovers! No frills, no fuss, just excellent steaks cooked perfectly every time. I’ve dined here a few times and always leave satisfied, knowing I’ve had great cuts prepared the way classic American steakhouses are known for. The atmosphere is comfortable, the cooking is consistently on point, and it’s always a place I look forward to whenever I’m craving a proper steakhouse experience. On my last visit, I ordered the Prime Roast Beef (medium doneness) with a baked potato, and it was outstanding! juicy, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted. The staff makes you feel welcome, adding to the charm of this long-standing spot. Portions are generous, so you truly get your money’s worth and because the steaks are high quality and huge, you might even go home with half your plate! If you’re looking for an old-school steakhouse that delivers on quality and tradition, Drying Shed is the place to go.
