Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. I think the picture of the broken shovel pretty much sums up our experience at the Fleet Science Center. While I understand that the facility is undergoing renovations, at least 1/3 of the exhibits that were available were broken, and many others were in various states of disrepair. Upon entering the building, you stand in line to check in at the counter. There are no signs to tell you that if you purchased tickets online you need to go to another desk to check in. Why is that even necessary? Then you enter the exhibit area and the very first thing you see is a very impressive looking tesla coil that doesn't work. There are no signs saying it's broken or to contact staff; it just sits there, miserable, in the dark. Speaking of the darkness, most of facility is poorly lit. The signage and many of the interactives feel very dated, and some of the more creative, hands-on areas just don't have enough guidance in place to help kids make the most of it. Things just look haphazard and messy. The only really impressive experience here is the ball pool. Even that had issues. The diving platform was closed, the vacuum tubes constantly got jammed, and the instructions for use were printed on

Top notch science museum or a center! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share and educate the crowd. We loved the tesla ball - our 3 year old was fascinated by the electromagnetic current, and lighting up LEDs without a physical wire. The whole place is kept well and clean. They also keep expanding so you can see few stations are under construction. Highly recommend for any age group! A++

Great for all ages. My son loved the huge ball pit, even though some areas smelled like kids had potty accidents while playing. So many real hands on experie ce open play for kids. We also enjoyed the imax theater experience.

This was easily one of the most unique and memorable experiences I’ve had in a long time. I’ve always wanted to attend a Candlelight Concert, and this Drake-themed performance exceeded every expectation. From the moment the musicians began playing, the atmosphere was absolutely captivating. Hearing some of Drake’s biggest songs transformed into beautiful orchestral arrangements with violins, cellos, and live strings created such an emotional and elevated experience. As someone who truly appreciates musicality, I loved hearing familiar songs interpreted in such a creative and sophisticated way. The venue itself created the perfect intimate ambiance — ideal for a romantic date night, a girls’ night out, or even a solo experience if you simply want to enjoy great music. The candlelit setting made everything feel immersive and elegant without feeling overly formal. The check-in process was also seamless. Staff members were organized, the line moved quickly, and seating was handled efficiently. I would recommend arriving a little earlier to allow time for parking, although parking itself was still fairly spacious and manageable. One thing to note is that photos and videos are only per

Went on a Saturday around 10:30 AM and my kids and I were very disappointed. Kid City was closed and the sign suggested we check out the ball pool, which was also closed, as were several other exhibits. They seemed to have makeshift alternative exhibits, but they were mostly a bunch of parts that were strewn about and could be used to be built into something. Overall very few exhibits available and many old and uninteresting for my kids. Certainly kid-dependent as far as how engaging the museum is, but objectively the museum has few functional offerings considering the price of each ticket.
