An absolute gem in Balboa Park—world-class art without the museum fatigue! The Art (5/5): The curation here is phenomenal. The upper level features a stunning collection of European Old Masters, impressionists (including a beautiful Monet), and Baroque works. Meanwhile, the lower level transitions into vibrant modern art, surrealism (with pieces by Dalí and Magritte), and a deeply impressive, expansive collection of Asian art and artifacts. The museum does a fantastic job of balancing its permanent collection with fresh, globally partnered rotating exhibits, so there is always something new to see. It’s large enough to spend a solid 2 hours exploring, but compact enough that you won't leave feeling overwhelmed. The Environment & Vibe (5/5): The museum is housed in a gorgeous, historic building with a breathtakingly detailed facade right along El Prado. Inside, the galleries are spacious, well-lit, and incredibly easy to navigate. A massive highlight is the peaceful outdoor sculpture garden and the adjacent bistro/bar—it’s the perfect place to sit, grab a drink, and process the art. Tips for Visitors: Accessibility: They have an excellent mobile app that acts as an audio guide f

The SDMofA has a beautiful selection of artwork. My son is wildly into VanGogh, Monet and Kadinsky right now, so he was very excited to get to see a Monet right here in town. It was a great afternoon and easy to stroll through the museum in about 3 hours with him reading most of the plaques.

This museum has a wide variety of art. Painting, sculpture, carvings, glass. We throughly enjoyed walking through. We bought the Balboa Park Explorer Pass.

quiet, a great selection, and bigger than I thought it would be. I got tired before I could see everything. they have a wide array of art, sculptures, pottery, artifacts, books, and interactives. standing in front of some pieces that I had only ever seen online/in books was special. they also have a free coat check if you have a bag you want to drop off while you wander.

San Diego Museum of Art is included in our Balboa park pass, but tickets are only $25 per adult and youth under 17 is free. We spent about 2 hours in the museum. We could have used more time, but they were closing. The museum offered room after room of a wide collection of art. Plenty to marvel and be inspired by. Highly recommend. One thing to note, please be mindful of posted signs and taped lines on the floor designed to keep viewers at a safe distance to prevent possible damages to the art piece. Get that needed selfie while minding the space.
