Lou & Mickey’s is not simply my favorite restaurant in San Diego. It is my favorite restaurant anywhere. I have been coming to this wonderful place for nearly 30 years, and throughout that time, I have made countless memories here with family and friends. It has been the setting for birthdays, celebrations, special evenings, and even our wedding reception in the Red Room. Few restaurants become such a meaningful part of someone’s life, but Lou & Mickey’s has truly become part of mine. The staff are exceptional. Some of the same wonderful people I remember from when I was young are still here today, which says so much about the restaurant and the culture they have created. Every person we encounter is genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They do not simply serve a meal; they make you feel as though you are returning to a place where you belong. And then there is the food. Nothing I write could fully do justice to the countless incredible meals I have enjoyed here, but Lou & Mickey’s continues to serve the best steaks I have ever had. Their dry-aged steaks are truly second to none. Pair one with a bottle from their outstanding wine list, and you may never look at another

Lou & Mickey’s has become one of our favorite Comic-Con traditions. Every year, we make it a point to have dinner here, and every year they remind us why we keep coming back. What really keeps us coming back is the service. From the host to our server, everyone was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. Even during the Comic-Con rush, we never felt rushed ourselves. They made our evening feel special. The food is consistently amazing. We started with the freshest oysters, shared the perfectly seasoned asparagus, and our steaks were cooked exactly the way we ordered them—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. We couldn’t leave without dessert, and the chocolate mousse was absolutely delicious. Thank you for continuing to be part of our annual tradition. We’ll see you again next Comic-Con!

Wife and I had the sirloin 12oz steak with creamy silk mashed potatoes and broccoli. For our appetizer we had the coconut fried shrimp. Everything was amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and no steak sauce was needed. The potatoes were so creamy and melted in your mouth. The atmosphere was nice. A little bit pricey but the food was amazing.

Have been to L&M's a couple of times and have had some exceptional drinks and of course steaks. However service-wise, mainly the hostesses, were a little off putting. It went like this: They texted and said our table was ready a little early, great! So we headed there, only about a 10 minute walk from where I live, I gave them an eta. Made it there in 8 minutes however they gave away our table. I asked her why and she was like, please wait over there. Nearly 20 minutes another table was ready for us. Pretty irritating and zero apology. Anyways, I grabbed a manhattan for the wait which made me feel a little better. A word of the wise, go early. The reason for this is that their smaller daily cuts sell out quickly. I ordered a 16oz bone-in Ribeye however about 25 minutes later I was informed that they only had a 30 or 32 oz left. I accepted however my dining mates steaks started coming out shortly there after. Again, anyways. Steak finally come out and was amazing. However My friends were nearly done eating so I asked for a to-go container. This was a while ago and we haven't been back since. As someone who grew up in San Diego I can confidently say this is one of the best steakhouses in downtown. I would say it’s only real competition is Cowboy Star because all the others either left or fell off, Born & Raised is pretty but the food is mid. It’s located in one of the busiest parts of downtown in the heart of Gaslamp right across from the convention center. Parking can be tricky however we found a metered spot on the street directly in front of the restaurant for our 7 PM dinner so we got very lucky. Otherwise they offer valet parking at the Hilton or you can choose one of the many pay lots around. Inside the restaurant is very large with many different dining areas and a full bar. It has a very classic theme to it very similar to an East Coast steakhouse. Our server was extremely polite and everything came out surprisingly fast. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of great options on it, so it took some time to choose. I finally settled with starting the meal off with a Grilled Jumbo Artichoke which I thought was wonderful. Next came the Roasted Beet Salad, which I also really enjoyed. The Humboldt Fog blue cheese with it was a great combo. For my entrée
