Waited over 4 hours with extreme kidney stone pain. They don’t care. Made us sit in waiting room with no pain meds despite asking for something or to at least lay down, but they kept us in waiting room despite many open beds in triage are. Other patients waiting hours too. Some left. This is the worst Emergency room EVER. Save yourself the pain and go anywhere else. Rude front desk too. No patient concern at all. I have never had a worse experience than UCSD Alvarado. This is not the place to be if you have any kind of emergency. Extremely disappointed by UCSD. This location should be ashamed of themselves.

I am currently a patient in emergency as I type this , their is a psych patient few beds over who is having a mental health emergency. The nurses & other health care professionals at nurse station in front of me - are making fun of this poor guy - laughing at him and one even stated CAN WE SHOVE A SOCK IN HIS MOUTH ? It’s absolutely disgusting behavior from a health care professional. It cost zero dollars for empathy and compassion definitely something these people don’t have. Absolutely disgusting human beings

My wife recently visited the ER at UC San Diego Health, and while much of the staff was excellent, one interaction left a very negative impression. A staff member named Philippe was dismissive and unprofessional when I asked questions regarding my wife's care. His responses were often short and unhelpful, and when I expressed concern about his communication style, he appeared more offended than willing to address the issue. During a stressful hospital visit, patients and their families deserve clear, respectful communication. On the positive side, I would like to recognize AJ, who was respectful, kind, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout our time there. AJ demonstrated the professionalism and compassion that patients expect when seeking medical care. I hope management recognizes employees like AJ and provides additional training to staff members who may need improvement in patient communication. One negative interaction does not define the entire facility, but it can certainly affect a family's experience during a difficult time.

Would like to express that my family & I are very grateful with the care my mom got at this hospital. All her nurse were great well she was there April 4 thur 7th. Especially a CNA named David Inda. He was so amazing & caring!

My experience has been outstanding. From the care I received upon my initial visit to the ER for critical chest pains, the CT Scan Technicians, and every one in the ER. Upon my transfer to the 5th floor the gold standard of care continued; My nurse Elina, Dr. H, and both My Physical Therapist and Registered Dietitian. I would recommend this hospital to anyone looking for the best hospital in San Diego!
