Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. I recently had a CT scan and am extremely claustrophobic. Tech Vu is great and works hard to help me through the exam. I also would not be able to complete the exam without Jason Gordon from the AIC unit giving up his busy time to actually put on a lead apron and stand in the room letting me know that I'm doing ok. He even counts down the exams and dye times so I stay calmer. I do have issues at first but this team always rocks and gets me through it.

If you got assigned to the so called Dr. Blade in opthalmology. RUN. I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Dr. Blade. From the moment he walked in, he treated me with zero respect. Instead of a consultation, it felt like an interrogation; he fired questions at me without giving me room to speak or explain my symptoms. He showed absolutely no concern for my actual health issues and made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a patient. Save your time and find a doctor who actually cares about patient well-being.

Waited less than 10 minutes to get into a room at the ER. Once in the room, nurse came in almost immediately and the Dr was there within 20 minutes. After doing a CT scan and blood tests in the ER, I was admitted and brought to a room fairly quickly. I had to get surgery and stay overnight. All of the nurses, Drs, and others were extremely kind and professional. They all seemed to love their jobs and took great care of me!

I recently spent 2 nights in Balboa Hospital after taking a fall and breaking my arm among other injuries, and I cannot say enough about the incredible care I received. From the moment I entered the ER, I felt like I was in safe hands. From the ER under the care of Dr Christina who cleaned me up and stitched up my face wounds (I hope I have her name correct) I was admitted and received surgery the next day from Dr Lake and his team that includes Dr Kiernan. From the start they gave me confidence in their abilities. Following surgery, I was allowed to remain in their care for another night due to nausea, making it easy without being questioned. The nursing staff on the 5th floor was absolutely phenomenal. I want to specifically mention Dusty, Arsenio, Lima, Diaz and nurse Seng, but everyone went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and well-being. They were not only knowledgeable and professional but treated me with true compassion and dignity, never making me feel like just another patient. Overall, everyone took the time to answer my questions and manage my pain effectively. In a time of high vulnerability, the staff at Balboa provided a calming, healing environment. I am deepl

As a retired veteran it's just so sad to see the care at the Balboa ER hasn't improved in 30 plus years since the last time I had to go there! I've been battling a respiratory infection for over two weeks until finally on 01/16, it was impossible to sleep so I drove to the ER, and checked in at 0200. After two weeks I was getting worse, and knew I needed antibiotics because NyQuil wasn't helping. I passed up two civilian ER's thinking they would be swamped on a Friday night, so my chances at Balboa would be better. I was so wrong! When I walked into the ER there was just myself and one other patient. I was called back after about 25 minutes. The nurse took vitals, and probably within the first half hour they took blood, x-rays, and EKG. Within that half hour a LT. came in asked questions and performed lungs sounds. By now it was at least 0320-0330. That was the last time I had seen anyone enter my room. Which now gave me plenty of time while just waiting to notice how filthy the floor was with medical trash, syringe caps, cotton swabs, dirt spots, etc... The ER is always freezing and all that was on the bed was a half-ass raggedy, drooping sheet. No pillow, no blanket, more
