Overall, we had a great stay and would absolutely consider staying here again, especially because of the in-room laundry and full kitchen. Those amenities were incredibly convenient and made a huge difference during our trip. The deli across the street where the hotel credit can be used was also excellent, with high-quality food. Our room itself was comfortable, but it faced the wall of the neighboring building. Since we booked at a heavily discounted rate, we felt that was fair enough. However, I would have appreciated knowing the room's view before booking, as I would not choose that particular room at the full nightly rate. When we checked in at the scheduled check-in time, the room was not ready and we were told it would be about 20 minutes. I completely understand that the front desk can't control how quickly housekeeping finishes, but once those 20 minutes had passed, it would have been nice if someone had checked in with us instead of leaving us to ask for another update. On the positive side, checkout was a much smoother experience. When I asked for a little extra time, they were happy to extend our checkout by 30 minutes, which I appreciated. My husband and I stayed at The Margot Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, Outset by Hilton while attending a conference this week. We chose this hotel because of its spacious suite layout, in-room amenities—including a full kitchen, washer and dryer—and its convenient proximity to the Convention Center. The Margot is a clean, modern boutique hotel with a small but well-equipped fitness center. We also appreciated the daily vouchers provided for the deli located across the street. First, we would like to commend the staff for their exceptional customer service. Prior to our arrival, I spoke with Ace and requested a quiet room on the highest floor. He kindly noted our preferences, and we were pleased that our request was fully accommodated at check-in. Ace also assisted us during check-out and was professional, courteous, and friendly. We would also like to recognize Jesse, who checked us in. He was exceptionally professional, welcoming, and helpful. Since we opted out of housekeeping services during our stay, Jesse was happy to assist us with additional items we needed for our room. The location is excellent, right in the Gaslamp Quarter and within walking distance of Petco Park, where there are games and events almost every evening. I stayed for four nights. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I had a good night’s sleep. The hotel Wi-Fi was fast and reliable throughout my stay, which was a big plus. However, there are several areas that could be improved. The hotel does not offer breakfast or a guest laundry service. Although the room has a washer and dryer, this isn’t very practical for business or convention travelers who usually don’t have time to do laundry during their stay. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Towels were not always replaced, and the room was not serviced every day. I also noticed the floors were not cleaned properly. We didn’t wear shoes inside the room, and the bottoms of our feet quickly became dirty, so I ended up wiping the bathroom floor myself. The bathroom also has no towel hooks or rack for drying towels. Adding a couple of hooks would allow guests to reuse their towels instead of needing fresh ones every day. We had such a great stay here. Everything about the hotel was wonderful, but the real highlight was kindness and helpfulness of the staff, especially Sebastian at valet. He was one of the friendliest people we met during our trip and always greeted us with a smile whenever we came and went. He took the time to recommend a few local restaurants and spots to check out, and they ended up being some of our favorite places. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure guests had a good experience, not just doing his job. The hotel itself was beautiful, the room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
