Canvas is the most welcoming and accepting church I have ever been a part of. It feels authentic, real, and honest. In past churches I’ve attended, I used to be the one to come in after worship and leave before the service ended to avoid any mingling. At Canvas, I’ve met the most incredible community and friends. The sermons are incredibly encouraging and transformative and the worship is great!

Here’s a version that is strong, direct, and focused on the experience without sounding so explosive that people dismiss it: I am deeply disappointed by our experience at this church today. We arrived only a few minutes late due to the massive Beta Breakers traffic across San Francisco, after making a huge effort to get our children there because church and community are something we’ve been relying on during a very difficult season for our family. I explained the situation respectfully and asked if any grace or exception could be made. Instead, we were turned away and told to sit alone in a separate “family room” with no other families, no community, and no opportunity for our children to participate with the other kids. As a parent trying to give my children encouragement, stability, and connection during an incredibly hard time, the experience felt cold, rigid, and completely lacking compassion. It was heartbreaking to watch a church prioritize policy over people in a moment where kindness would have meant everything. I left feeling humiliated and unwelcome. I've only been attending for about two months, but Canvas is already proving to be the community I've been searching for. As someone who finds beauty and truth across several world traditions, I was looking for a Christian church that holds other faiths with genuine respect and love: not as a performance of tolerance, but as an expression of its own convictions. From the Indian Vedas and Judaic concepts woven into Pastor Travis's book, to the way every human being is spoken of with dignity regardless of their path, Canvas SF shines with an openness that feels deeply, authentically Christian. It's a very special place, and I'm excited to keep putting down roots here.

Consistently so impressed with how this church brings Christianity into the modern world and makes it not only relatable, but appealing, to people of all walks of life in San Francisco. I love their emphasis on serving our city and prioritizing relationships. Community and leadership are both so inclusive and loving and it's really refreshing to see.

So many reasons to love Canvas!! My experience with finding the "right" church has been exhausting but I started attending Canvas when I moved here 5 years ago. My husband had gone for some time and I really wanted to support him. I love how each message is connected to our current life- it really feels like an hour of motivational speaking!!! For someone who is still exploring their faith, Canvas exposes you to the lessons of the bible in a gentle way (not the shouting, shoving down your throat, or passing around a money basket lol). Other reasons why I love Canvas: - I love volunteering for the Kid's program (Canvas kids) - Travis & Jena are so warm, genuine, and real people! - He'll throw in a few jokes :) - I love the messages every week - Donuts & coffee! - The space is large and comfy - LOVE the live band (everyone is so talented and it makes church music really fun!!) - Travis officiated our wedding and supported us throughout our engagement and marriage :) - The variety of groups that you can explore/join to build a deeper community.

Canvas SF is truly something special! From the moment I walked in for the first time last year, I was met with a level of warmth and welcome that immediately stood out. After being part of the community for some time now, I can confidently say that experience is genuine and consistent. There is a unique quality to Pastor Travis’s sermons. They are engaging, relatable, and often feel especially relevant to what you may be walking through. He thoughtfully addresses the realities of our day to day lives, especially within the context of living in San Francisco, and consistently brings it back to a meaningful invitation to live with intention, in love, and as followers of Christ in this city we are fortunate to call home. His approach is both thoughtful and practical, and it creates space for real growth. One of the things I appreciate most about Canvas is the culture of authenticity. Canvas is something special and truly refreshing. Not often do you find a church that prioritizes being followers of Jesus and being Spirit-led with intentionality, more than focusing on production-quality on Sundays or Christian programming. Worship, led by Ethan, is a thoughtful, non-performative space to actually connect, not just observe. There’s also a warmth and inclusivity that feels genuine the moment you walk in. Travis’s sermons go beyond thought-provoking—they gut punch your core in the best way. He drops sermon “bars” like nbd, layering profound truth in ways that stay with you long after Sunday. You leave challenged, encouraged, and inspired to BE the church and not just go to church. Also beautiful to see a budding ministry forming for middle/high school students, investing in the next generation with care and purpose. Grateful this church exists in SF.
