I did the $10 self guided tour on a weekday. It was an incredible and moving experience. I got lucky to hear beautiful organ music, really enjoyed the church, and was especially moved by all the historical artifacts and the cemetery. I learned a lot. Highly recommend

A beautiful mission. The grounds feel expansive and peaceful, and the church offers a wide range of services and community programs that are well organized and welcoming. Parking is surprisingly easy, which makes attending events convenient. I attended their Christmas concert this season, where the choir performed Handel’s Messiah. The performance was moving and beautifully executed, making for a memorable and uplifting experience.

I lived in the Mission but never bothered to stroll in to this historic place of worship. Was reminded by watching Vertigo recently. Open for tours and regular service on the weekends.

Beautiful church with a rich history. Excellent acoustics for concerts. Features an outstanding concert Steinway grand piano, harpsichord, and organs. High-quality live stream service. Stunning sanctuary and chapel.

A self-guided tour costs just $10, granting access not only to the basilica itself but also to the adjacent small museum and peaceful cemetery, where you can immerse yourself in the mission’s rich past. During my visit, the atmosphere was serene, with fewer than a dozen people inside, allowing for quiet reflection and an uninterrupted experience. You’ll enter and exit through the gift shop, which offers a variety of unique souvenirs to commemorate your visit.

The Mission was not on our sightseeing list for San Francisco. We had some extra time though and it was close, so we popped in to check out the cemetery. I wasn’t prepared for the wealth of history I would be presented with. I needed days worth of time to really take everything in but only had about 20 minutes. The 2 men working the shop that day were true gems. Not only did they relay the history and tells us colorful stories, they recommended a nearby bakery which as as phenomenal as they said. I could have spent the whole afternoon talking with them. The basilica was breathtaking. The cemetery was well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The displays and artifacts throughout were amazing. I had such a peaceful walkthrough in one of the busiest cities in the country. What a treasure!

I had the privilege of finally visiting Mission Basilica. After passing it 100s of times since the late 80s, I've never been inside. I must say, it left a lasting impression. The space is truly remarkable, exuding a unique and uplifting energy that's hard to find elsewhere. But what truly took my breath away were the choirs performing there. The combination of the grand church building and its incredible sound effects created a mesmerizing experience. Each choir performance I witnessed was nothing short of glorious. Mission Basilica is a place where beauty, spirituality, and music harmoniously come together. A must-visit for anyone seeking an awe-inspiring encounter.

Beautiful old Mission and Basilica next door. Absolutely beautiful. Visited many Spanish Missions, this is one of my favorites. I look forward to attending Mass in the future...
