This peaceful, graceful, and stunning Catholic church is a special place I have been blessed to visit during my various trips to San Francisco. Its serene atmosphere, beautiful religious symbols, and inspiring spiritual architecture bring a deep sense of peace, quieting the mind and renewing the body and spirit. The spiritual blessings and inner peace gained from each visit are truly beyond words.

Absolutely amazing visit to this shrine. Diane was such a kind and knowledgeable docent (not sure of her title but she was welcoming guests to the shrine). A breathtaking, tearful experience to be able to touch a 1st class relic of Saint Francis. Wonderful place to visit. Highly recommend

St. Francis of Assisi Church on Vallejo Street in San Francisco is a peaceful and welcoming place of worship with a rich sense of history. The architecture is beautiful, featuring warm tones and classic details that invite quiet reflection. Services are heartfelt and well-attended, and the parish community is friendly and inclusive. A serene spot for prayer and spiritual connection.

Saw a friend through cafe window and joined her to attend a choir here ; it was a melodic soundtrack to the pageantry of the lights, the stained glass windows, the art and the architecture of the church! That’s what religion is to me - a work of literature and music, something which my favorite Hindu goddess Saraswati specializes in. I later went to a jazz pub to finish the circle of scared and the profane.

I visited this shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi for the very first time yesterday. I really enjoyed walking into the scaled down replica of the actual Porziuncola Nuova that is located in Italy. The staff who greeted me, I forget her name, was very friendly and told me a lot about Saint Francis and how the Porziuncola Nuova replica was built. I am so proud to have such a beautiful and magnificent shrine in my North Beach neighborhood. I really recommend this place for a visit.

It is a small catholic church at the corner of italian village. Just walk in because the door was open, and it takes my breath away. It is really beautiful and cozy, warming place. Later I knew that Sanfrancisco is following the name of St. Francis. This is the real heart of SAn Francisco. It is very close to the Washington Square, have unforgettable moment here.

In a city named after St Francis of Assisi, a visit to the National Shrine of St Francis makes a lot of sense. It is a beautiful Church, solemn and quiet. There are several statues and altars dedicated to different saints, with a plaquet saying something about wach saint. Thus, to walk around the church can lso be educational. It is close to famed San Francisco sites such as the City Lights Bookstore, Vesuvio Cafe and the Beat Museum, so the church is easy to find.

It was a great decision that this parish should be designated as the "National Shrine" to St. Francis. A beautiful church with a lot of local history but also emphasizing for whom this great city was named. The statues and the new Porziuncula chapel are great ways to help teach the faith and promote St. Francis' spirituality. I hope every Catholic who visits SF will see this church and many non-Catholics will learn about our faith through this beautiful sanctuary in the heart of a great city.
